Welcome to Gadlaw Consulting. I am Rodney Gaddy, a dedicated legal professional with over 35 years of experience as a practicing attorney. I am licensed to practice before various courts including the U.S. Supreme Court, the Florida Supreme Court, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit, as well as all state courts in Florida.
After receiving my juris doctorate from Georgetown University Law Center, my career started as a staff attorney with Central Florida Legal Services and later included roles as an Assistant Public Defender and General Counsel for the Florida Department of Law Enforcement., where I honed my advocacy skills and provided comprehensive legal representation in civil and criminal matters.
After my time in public service, I transitioned to the private sector, as Florida Power’s first in-house labor and employment attorney and later became Deputy General Counsel. Following a series of mergers and acquisitions, I held various executive leadershiproles at Duke Energy, ultimately serving as Senior Vice Proesident of Administrative Services. In this capacity, I managed a $300 million budget and led approximately 1,200 employees across real estate, corporate security, supply chain, land services and aviation
Upon retiring from Duke Energy, I embraced a fulfilling role as Executive Director for ONE Charlotte Health Alliance, a non-profit organization formed by Atrium Health and Novant Health. In that position I focused on expanding healthcare access in Charlotte’s six lowest-income zip codes, through the innovative use of mobile medical units.
Throughout my career, I have served as a board member and board chair for over 40 different non-profit orgsnizations, including: Board Chair for Child Care Resources, Inc.; Board Chair for PBS NC Foundation Board; Board Chair St. Augustine’s University Board of Trustees; Board member for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Carolinas; Board member for NC Museum of Art Foundation; Board member for Care Ring; Board member for C.W. Williams Community Health Center to name a few.
Lead Consultant in Maryland and Washington D.C.
I joined the firm in April, 2025 as a legal consultant. After receiving my juris doctorate from American University Washington College of Law and passing both the Washington, DC and Maryland Bar, I clerked for a year with Judge Jeannie Hong, Associate Judge of the Baltimore City Circuit Court, 8th Judicial Circuit. During my tenure with Judge Hong I was responsible for managing her civil docket, researching and drafting opinions, additionally I was responsible for responses to petitions for post-conviction relief.
Following my clerkship I accepted a position as an Associate in the Labor and Employment section of the firm of Miles and Stockbridge, P.C. There I handled a myriad of cases, representing corporations in the defense of labor and employment claims including but not limited to discrimination, harassment, breach of contract, wage and hour violations, etc. Additionally, I advised and counseled clients on compliance with federal and state employment laws, restrictive covenants (non-competition agreements/non-solicitation agreements) and employment agreements, and how to succesfully pass DOL audits. Further, I litigated representation cases before the NLRB , negotiated voluntary recognition, and identified and remedied potential areas of non-compliance. I also provided training on employment matters and conducted employment related internal investigations. Lastly, I appeared in state court numerous times to succesfully obtain protective orders on behalf of corporate clients.
